This item is a traditional Aranmula Kannadi, a unique metal-alloy mirror hailing from the village of Aranmula in Kerala, India. Unlike standard glass mirrors, this piece is handcrafted from a specialized alloy of copper and tin, which is polished over several days to achieve a high-clarity, reflective surface. The design features a classic Valkannadi (tailed mirror) silhouette, characterized by a circular head and an ornate, contoured handle. Its back showcases traditional concentric circular engravings, while the overall golden-brass luster reflects its cultural status as one of the Ashtamangalyam, or eight auspicious objects believed to bring prosperity and good luck to a home.
